Summary
Accessing and managing user profiles is essential for overseeing user information and activity. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to navigate to a user's profile, interpret the available information, and perform administrative actions.
How To:
Step 1 - Navigate
There are several ways to access a users profile, but in most cases you'll need to go to:
Site administration > Users > Accounts > Browse list of users
You can then click on the name of a particular user from this list in order to access their profile page.
Step 2 - Understanding the Profile Page Layout
The user's profile page is organised into several sections:
- User details
- Course details
- Reports
- Administration
- Login activity
- Roadmap
- Miscellaneous
Step 3 - Editing a Users Profile
You can quickly edit a users profile information by clicking the "Edit profile" button under the User Details section of their profile.
Once you've updated the required details such as name, email address or password you can then scroll down and click "Update profile" to apply these changes.
Step 4 - Viewing Activity Reports
To monitor a user's activity on the platform you can use the Reports section on their profile to access any of the following:
- Today's logs - Displays user activity for the current day
- All logs - Displays all user activity for the past 3 months
- Outline report - Summarises the users activity across courses
- Complete report - Provides details logs of the users actions
All of these reports can prove useful in tracking user engagement and troubleshooting potential issues.
Step 5 - Viewing Training Records
Whilst not intended to be a replacement for more in-depth Custom reports on the site, the Transcript section of a users profile can provide quick insights into the training a user has accessed and their current progress across courses, pathways and a selection of key activities. Simply click into the transcript and use the navigation bar to switch between training types.
Step 6 - Logging in as the User
During the process of troubleshooting a user issue, you may need to use the Log in As feature to recplicate the users view of the problem. By clicking the "Log in as" button in the Administration tab of a users profile it will log you out of your administrator account and log you in to the users account, where you can then access any pages on the site from the users perspective.
To leave this mode, you'll need to click the profile icon in the top right and log out of the users account before then logging back in to your administrator account.
