How to Add Activities to Home

Summary

The Home page of the site can be used in many different ways, it can be used to provide information to users regarding your Charity and events, key organisational values, FAQs, information relating to the Learning & Development team or news and announcements for the learning site.

Step 1 - Navigate

The Home page editing works in a similar way to Courses on the system, the main difference is that the tracking in the background will not function the same as a Course page, this is due to the Courses on the system being designed to be marked as completed when objectives have been completed by users. The Home page is more ideally suited to providing resources, displaying information, collecting information from users and also highlighting key pieces of information that will benefit the use of the site.

All changes made on the Home page require enabling the "Edit Mode" and being on the Home page itself to make changes that are immediately live to all users.

Step 2 - Editing the Home Summary Section

When the "Edit Mode" is active on the Home page you will be able to see a small cog icon, this enables you to edit the top Summary Section of the Home page once clicked on, this section is static and cannot be removed from the Home page as other activities can once they have been added, the section can be updated as many times as is needed though.

Step 3 - Adding Activities

When the "Edit Mode" is active the Site Admin will be able to click on "Add an activity or resource" and then select from the list of available activities to add to the Home page. The key activities that will mostly be used are the "Text and Media Area" and also possibly the "File" activity depending on the desired use for the Home page.

Step 4 - Save

All changes are live as soon as you save on the Home page of your site, so be sure to hide any activities you do not wish users to see if you are working on them or if objects are no longer relevant but you do not wish to delete them.
