Types

Info

Types are the starting point for all forms in Form Track.

A Type is like a top-level category that groups together related templates and forms — for example, "Appraisals," "Incident Reports," or "Training Feedback." Types help keep everything organised so it’s easier to find and manage the forms you need.

When you create a Type, you can choose whether it’s open or restricted:

  • Open Types are visible to anyone with the right permissions, meaning other users can create templates and assign forms using that Type. This works well for forms that are used across teams, departments, or the whole organisation.
  • Restricted Types are only visible to the creator and user administrators, keeping everything within that Type private. This is useful for sensitive processes where only certain people should be able to see, create, or assign forms.

Types make it easier to keep forms organised by purpose, while giving you control over who can see and use them.

Creating a type

Creating a type can be done from the Types page.

  1. Site Administration
  2. Form Track
  3. Manage Types

When creating a new type, both the name and the access are mandatory fields. Name the type according to the base you would like to set for the forms, for example: ‘Appraisals’.

Edit type

You will be able to edit any types you have created by selecting the icon from the table.

Info

Please note, you are able to change the name as well as the access to the type however, this will affect any other users who might have templates in this type.

You will be presented with a modal to make the changes you need. After making the appropriate changes, click ‘Save’.
