How to Add a Block to Home

Summary

The Home page acts very similar to a Course page on your site and the method of adding blocks will be mostly identical.

Step 1 - Navigate

Any changes to the Home page will first require you to navigate to your Home page, please also be aware that for some sites the name of "Home" could have already been changed to another word or hidden entirely using CSS in the background of the site. The "Home" or its custom named equivalent will always be found to the right of the logo image on the top navigation bar if it has not been hidden.

Step 2 - Adding a block

The "Edit Mode" will first need to be enabled using the toggle in the top-right corner of your site window to enable further options and customisation to take place, this will typically be the first step of editing anywhere on the site.

The Home page Blocks will only be able to be placed into the "Block Drawer" that can be found in the top-right corner of the site, just below the "Edit Mode" toggle and will appear as a grey half circle with a left facing arrow at its centre ( < |.

You can then select "Add a block" to see the full list of available blocks that can be added to the drawer, some are more useful than others depending on your needs. The typical highlights would be:

  • Accessibility
  • Latest Badges
  • Online Users
  • Text

Once the new block has been clicked on it will have been added, the only exception to this would be the "Text..." block that will prompt you to add text, an image or embedded video before saving to add.

You will be able to change the order of your blocks that have already been created within the Block Drawer by using the + icon associated with the block when Edit Mode is enabled and dragging the blocks into the desired position.
